Hanukkah candy such as chocolate gelt is very popular during the Hanukkah season. Chocolate gelt is given to children or hidden around a party location for children to find and eat. Make the children earn the chocolate gelt and other various candies and nuts by placing them in a Hanukkah piñata. Personalized Hanukkah candy wrappers also make nice party favors in addition to the chocolate gelt candy.
Ensure every child leaves with a party favor filled with Hanukkah candy, toys (dreidels) and plenty of wonderful memories. Children can also create their very own party favors that are easy and very fun to make. Paper dreidels can easily be made from blue colored paper and following a dreidel template. Chain garland with dreidels is a simple yet festive way to decorate a party area. All that is required is silver, white, and blue paper, and tape. A paper plate menorah is also a wonderful arts & crafts project for children. For a paper plate menorah, cut the paper plate in half and paint with tempera blue paint. Turn one of the plate halves over and glue one of the white craft sticks at the straight side, in the center. Glue the remaining craft sticks slightly lower than the center one, four on each side. Use hot glue gun to glue the large craft stick in the center of the rounded end of one of the plates (menorah’s stand). Hot glue the bottom of the round ends of the two plates together. Stuff with cotton balls then glue plate closed on all sides. Cut small pieces of yellow, orange tissue paper to the ends of the crafts stick to resemble flames. Use glitter to draw in the candleholder on the paper plate on both sides.
